Plot is one of those writing words that you've probably heard before, but that doesn't necessarily mean you fully understand what it means. This may be especially true if you're coming back to writing after an absence.

That's okay! In my own, maybe not so cohesive manner, I'm going to break down what "plot" means in relation to fiction writing, why it's important, and how you can use it to your advantage, even if you're not a natural plotter.
