  • What Kinds of Books Are On Our Bookshelves?
    Apr 10 2025

Join Marissa Franks Burt and Kelsey Kramer McGinnis In the Church Library for a sampling of books that represent different elements of popular Christian teaching.

Episode One closed with the note that the next episode would cover Tedd Tripp's book Shepherding A Child's Heart, but that will be the topic for Episode Three.

Note: In this episode, when Marissa is describing the history of the nouthetic movement she indicates that Jay Adams was studying to be a counselor and that is when he became disillusioned with pyschology. This needs further clarification: Adams at that time was shadowing a psychologist in order to head up a Christian counseling program at Westminster. So while he was learning about psychology, he was not in a formal program to become a psychologist or something of that nature.

Books we discuss in this episode:

    Books by James Dobson

    Books by John Rosemond

How to Rear Children, by: Jack Hyles

The Christian Family, by: Larry Christenson

To Train Up a Child, by: Michael & Debi Pearl

The Power of Motherhood, by: Nancy Campbell

Raising Godly Tomatoes, by: L. Elizabeth Kreuger
