Fergus O’Hare was recently awarded our Community Media Champion Award. Community Media Champion awards recognise individuals who've made a significant and special contribution to community media in the UK. There’s more info on our website.
Fergus established Raidió Fáilte, which provides Irish language services to the Irish-speaking community in Belfast.
He was also involved in the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland as a member of People's Democracy in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Former CMA Chair Dom Chambers visited Belfast to hand Fergus the award a few weeks ago. But they also found some time to chat about community radio, and the story behind the fantastic project that is Raidió Fáilte. We would always welcome further thoughts and feedback from our members on what they would like to hear from the CMA's podcast. Email office@communitymedia.uk.
Please subscribe to The Community Media Podcast for the latest news about UK community radio and the CMA.
This podcast was presented by Dom Chambers & Terry Lee.
It was produced by James Boyall & Terry Lee at the University of Bedfordshire.
