Sermon by Jarrett McLaughlin from Mark 9:33-37
In our sermon series, 'In Good Company,' we'll explore the lives of four remarkable saints of the church —Ella Baker, Mother Teresa, Mr. Rogers, and Oscar Romero —and consider how we live as God's saints. Saints are, quite simply, those through whom God's light shines. The word "saint" literally means one who is "set apart." At UPC, we trust that we are set apart not for perfection but for God's purposes. During this stewardship season, we will ask how God is inviting us to steward the good we've inherited for the sake of others.
This episode includes a version of "Won't You Be My Neighbor" sung first by our children's choirs, then by the whole congregation. The laughter happens when Jarrett and Nancy put on and zip up their robes, Mr. Rogers style :)
