More than 446,000 Australians currently live with dementia, the leading cause of death in the country, with numbers expected to exceed 1 million by 2065 without intervention. Professor Henry Brodati from UNSW's Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing explains that cognitive decline is not inevitable, noting half of centenarians live without dementia.
