• Resumen

  • Hey y’all, welcome back to the Roots and Refuge Podcast!

I don't have a neatly written description for this podcast because things are hectic here on the homestead and I'd rather just get you this audio this week, even if the upload isn't perfect. Thanks for understanding! I hope y'all enjoy this one I recorded in the fall and I can't wait to be back next week.

Thanks for spending this time with me today. If you love these podcastsand want to support the our homestead, be sure to check out our Patreon, where we post episodes early and do a monthly live Q&A.

words that ring true

Somehow, you always post the words I need to hear when I need to hear them. Thank you Jess. I see this podcast came out some time after you originally recorded it with it being the start of spring now. But this really resonates with me right now. My partner and I bought land last summer and we are building the dream I've had all my life to live simply on a homestead and the reality that starting a homestead isn't so simple has hit hard this winter. I am that person that has been working 65 hours a week to make ends meet, to then come home and try to build our garden, plant our orchard, and improve the home we are building. in the time after work and on the weekends. Battling burnout at work and exhaustion at home and trying to live intentionally and simply. We try to minimize social media and cook from scratch and have quality time together and it feels like we have to choose wrong sometimes just to get it all done. As we roll into this next season, we are slowing down and trying to take one project at a time and to live our lives as a compass and not a clock. Hearing that you are thinking the same morals and hearing your words, I feel that I am not alone and we all have challenges with the way societal normal are so disconnected... there is so much hope and moving forward with connection and God, and family time, simplicity, stewardess well is really the direction to keep striving towards.
