Welcome to The Your Level Fitness Podcast. I am Daryl Perry, and this show is for anyone who has been on a weight loss journey for years, maybe even decades, whether it has been a consistent pursuit or an on and off cycle. It is also for those of you who have reached maintenance but still do not like what or who you see in the mirror.

Here we take an inside/out approach to health, fitness, and weight loss. That means untangling the emotional mess we have been conditioned to carry, learning to connect with ourselves, and building appreciation for our bodies no matter where we are in the process. This is not about chasing an aesthetic goal to finally feel happy, but about changing the way we think and live.

In this episode, I dive into what happens when life goes sideways for longer stretches. Yesterday we talked about curveballs that throw off a single day. Today we are talking about injuries, vacations, or extended periods where eating and exercise routines are disrupted. These times are frustrating, but they are also opportunities. They give us a chance to reassess what showing up really looks like, to reconnect with ourselves, and to strengthen the habits that go beyond workouts and meals.

I share how I am adjusting my own approach as I recover from an injury, shifting from gym sessions back to chair yoga, non-weight bearing mobility, and functional upper body workouts. I also talk about how meal timing has changed for me during this season, and how using the “cosplay” elements—collecting, organizing, speaking, and playing—has helped me stay grounded and connected while healing.

The key is remembering that setbacks and sideways seasons are part of life. Instead of fighting them or forcing yourself through them, use them as opportunities to observe, reconnect, and rebuild your foundation. That foundation, built on your preferences and willingness, is what carries you forward in both weight loss and maintenance.

If you want to reinforce this mindset daily at your own pace, subscribe to this podcast and sign up for the daily email. That is about ten minutes a day of actionable reinforcement. If you are ready for more structured guidance, join The YLF Experience. It is my evolving answer to what is both good and bad in the fitness space in 2025, and right now phase one pricing with a money back guarantee makes it the best time to join.
