Today I share with you the advantage of using Small Sided Games to maximize learning within your training session.
This approach in basketball helps athletes by improving decision making, skill acquisition, team play and reducing mental gaps with a method engaging, competitive and fun.
Usually, numbers are less than the usual 5 on 5 required in games, also the numbers may be adjusted to create advantage and disadvantage situations.
The focus is more on learning from failure, decision making, teamwork, communication and rule-based accountability.
When implementing rules in small sided games they help drive a certain outcome or behavior, sometimes without the athletes knowing the intention of the game.
Small Sided games help promote discoverability, versatility and adaptability.\
