The United States government officially shut down at midnight today after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach a budget agreement in the Senate. New York Governor Kathy Hochul addressed the shutdown this morning in a press conference. WFUV’s Sienna Reinders reports. Rent hikes are in effect starting today for 2.4 million rent stabilized tenants across the city. WFUV’s Xenia Gonikberg tells us how these hikes could impact residents living in these units. Today, the Trump Administration announced they are freezing 18 billion dollars of federal funds that were dedicated to public works projects in New York City. WFUV’s Frank Spicuzza tells us more. A bookstore dedicated to horror and dark literature has opened in New York City just in time for spooky season. WFUV’s Sienna Reinders takes us there.
