  • Why We Need Adult Sex Ed with Dr. Kelly Casperson
    Jun 13 2024

For many women who’ve never had an orgasm, it’s easy to feel like there’s something wrong or that they’re broken, a sentiment shared by many of Dr. Kelly Casperson’s patients. However, as urologist and star podcaster Dr. Casperson explains in our latest episode, the issue isn’t with women—it’s our lack of good sex education. This lack hinders women’s ability to experience pleasure, which is why over 10% of women report never having had an orgasm. This issue is particularly pronounced in midlife, where menopause and societal stigmas leave many women feeling abandoned in their sexuality.

Join us as Erin and Dr. Casperson guide you through your own adult sex ed class, busting myths about female sexuality, diving into hormonal balance, discussing how to express your sexual needs, and showing you how to reclaim your sexual health and well-being at any age.

    • Debunking myths and misconceptions about female health, libido, and sexuality, which are often understudied and not discussed.
    • How tuning into your inner voice can lead to a more passionate, truthful life.
    • Unlocking the secrets of estrogen and testosterone for better sex and overall health.
    • The impact of unrealistic media portrayals of sex on women’s self-perception and satisfaction.
    • How open conversations about sex can boost pleasure, connection, and intimacy.
    • Why we need a sex education revolution to replace porn as a go-to resource, helping close the orgasm gap for mutual pleasure.
    • How sex toys can help you discover what you really want and what gives you pleasure.

Read the paper discussed in the episode The heteronormative theory of low sexual desire in women partnered with men.

  • Advice: Should I Give This Guy a Second Chance?
    Jun 11 2024

Getting your needs met is hot. What’s not hot is when your emotional or physical needs (or both!) are neglected. One listener is grappling with this issue, questioning whether to give a man a second chance after a real first date fail, especially as she navigates dating after a sexless marriage.

In this episode, Erin is drawing from her own experiences and shares the importance of prioritizing our own needs and self-worth in casual dating, and to avoid settling for less than you deserve. Join us as we discuss:

    • Prioritizing emotional care and connection in addition to physical intimacy
    • Trusting your instincts and prioritizing your well-being, particularly if an encounter leaves you feeling empty or degraded.
    • Communicating your needs and being prepared to move on if they're not met.
    • Recognizing your worth and refusing to accept poor treatment, even in casual relationships.

  • How to Feel Less Exhaustion and More Joy with Victoria Albina
    Jun 6 2024

“It's only when we come into the body that we can start to see our thoughts.”

In the age of the internet and social media, we're constantly bombarded with pseudoscientific wellness trends that promise quick fixes for every aspect of our mental well-being. Beneath the noise, there exists a grounded, science-based, and holistic approach to wellness, exemplified by Victoria Albina. Victoria is a family nurse practitioner, breathwork meditation guide, life coach, and host of the "Feminist Wellness Podcast." Her mission is to empower women to become their own best healers, enabling them to break free from codependency, perfectionism, and people-pleasing, and to reclaim their joy. This is what being Hotter Than Ever is all about.

Join us for a fascinating conversation as Victoria guides us through the importance of getting deeper in touch with our bodies through feminist wellness, understanding the nervous system, and utilizing somatic practices. We discuss:

    • Intersectional feminism and the importance of considering the whole person to understand their unique experiences and needs in wellness
    • The connection between the nervous system and mental wellness, and how past traumas and emotional experiences affect current well-being.
    • How emotional outsourcing and feeling unsafe in our bodies can lead to chronic stress in women, making it difficult to unwind and relax
    • Practical somatic practices to calm the nervous system and how these differ from healing practices
    • Why self-love is so challenging to cultivate in a world driven by external approval, and how somatic practices can help foster it
    • How visualization can be used as a technique for healing, allowing us to alter our neural pathways

OUR GUEST: Victoria Albina (she/they) is a Certified Life Coach, UCSF-trained Family Nurse Practitioner and Breathwork Meditation Guide with a passion for helping women realize that they are their own best healers, so they can break free from codependency, perfectionism and people-pleasing and reclaim their joy. She is the host of the Feminist Wellness Podcast, holds a Masters degree in Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health and a BA in Latin American Studies from Oberlin College. Victoria has been working in health & wellness for over 20 years and lives on occupied Munsee Lenape territory in New York’s Hudson Valley.
