We're going to the 80s for our 162nd show. You know we're all about Hidden Gems and there was some talk about doing Wishamster 2 for this podcast, since we had such a great time covering the original last show. But instead we decided to honour the director of Wishmaster 2 by covering another of his films. One of several he made for New Line Cinema back in the 80s. This guy is not very well known and neither is this film, which makes it perfect for the podcast. So we hope you enjoy as we give the Horror 101 treatment to Jack Sholder's The Hidden from 1987.

We've received a LOT of requests to cover this one over the years. Directed by F/X mogul Robert Kurtzman and produced by Wes Craven, this late 90s gem features a TON of 80s Horror Icons. Anyone who wanted an 'Expendables" version of Horror actors need look no further. This is what you want. Very few movies from this era had so many great practical effects. The Gore is superb. The Djinn was a fantastic new villain for the time, played by a deliciously charismatic Andrew Divoff. We hope you enjoy our Horror 101 Treatment of Wishmaster.

Another 80s classic is being remade and should be released in August so before that comes out, for better or worse we want to spotlight the original from 1986. Its our pleasure to give the Horror 101 treatment to Kevin Tenney's first feature film. A solid entry in light 80s spiritual horror.
