  • HiddenTrack #287 M. BYRD
    Jan 22 2026

"M. Byrd found himself in a wholly foreign place upon becoming a father for the first time. Enveloped by the moment, the German singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer transfers this energy onto his 2025 full-length offering, A Better Place [Nettwerk]."

"He took the first step on this perpetual journey as a kid obsessed with music back in Germany. During 2020, he introduced his sound with the single “Mountain,” eclipsing 10.9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for the Orion EP. The latter boasted another fan favorite “Morning Sun,” which gathered 6.2 million Spotify streams. 2023 saw him serve up his first full-length LP, The Seed. Along the way, he incited tastemaker applause from EUPHORIA., 1883 Magazine, OnesToWatch, and more."

"Around the same time, the onset of fatherhood turned his world upside down in the best way. It effectively divided the writing process of A Better Place into two halves—physically represented by his young family’s move from Hamburg to Denmark."

“There are all of these songs before the birth and all of these songs after the birth,” he affirms. “I was able to reflect on myself and what was happening. I said, ‘Goodbye’, to a lot of friends in Hamburg and started a new life in Denmark. All of these changes happened, and I was really trying to put them into songs, so I would have them with me forever.”

"Ultimately, M. Byrd soundtracks the most universal experience of all: change."

  • HiddenTrack #286 TINY CITIES (Dennis King and Melissa Anthony)
    Jan 15 2026

On this week's episode I have the great pleasure of welcoming the authentic and harmonious indie folk duo, TINY CITIES. Not only are Tiny Cities a timeless and soulful group, they are the first fully signed artists to the new Hidden Tracks Records label (HTR). I may be biased, but they have a great beginning and several stories about their personal musical journeys that led them to what is now called, Tiny Cities.

  • HiddenTrack #285 BRUTALLIGATORS (Luke Murphy)
    Jan 8 2026

Brutalligators started in late 2016 when Paul and Luke met for a coffee and discovered a mutual love of 90s and 00s emo and hardcore. Having been in various hardcore and emo bands throughout the 00s and 10s, they decided to try and write some songs together and Brutalligators was born. Simo and Rhys joined soon after, before they debuted at The Good Ship in Kilburn in 2017. They self-released their first EP Animals I Wish I’d Seen in 2017, following with the second EP Friends I Wish I’d Had in 2019 via Real Ghost Records. Their debut album This House is Too Big, This House is Too Small was released in 2021 on Beth Shalom Records, which Noizze commented that the album “presents the band in their greatest, most intimate and most cathartic form.” Since releasing This House is Too Big… Brutalligators have been tearing up stages across the UK and Europe, supporting bands such as Fresh, Michael Cera Palin, Dikembe, Johnny Foreigner and Martha.

  • HiddenTracks #282 RESTROYER. (Grason, Chris, Alex, and Matt)
    Dec 18 2025

On this week's episode we welcome the punk band RESTROYER. from Salt Lake City, Utah. Restroyer. is a a no-rules celebration of punk rock in all its forms. Blending fast melodic skate punk, gritty hardcore, and classic 90s vibes, they write love letters to the sounds that shaped them.

The SLC-based quartet specializes in the punk rock that you may remember from the late nineties or mid-aughts – think a mixture of the political approach of Anti-Flag, the upbeat skate punk of Lagwagon, and a bit of grizzled Rancid energy. It’s tied up in an aggressive but digestible ten-song package that highlights its crusty punk rock roots without sacrificing a studio quality that begs for repeat listening.

  • HiddenTrack #280 BADVRIL (Becket Schroeder and Tessa Piccillo)
    Dec 4 2025

BADVRIL is an active American grunge band based in San Francisco, known for their "chaotic, narcotic grunge sound" that blends small-town isolation with the energy of city life. The band is led by Becket Schroeder and closely accompanied by Tessa Piccillo.

"BADVRIL is a band that thrives on the tension between small-town isolation and the frenetic energy of city life. Originally from the backwoods of Washington, Badvril now calls San Francisco home. The contrast between two worlds is central to their chaotic, narcotic grunge sounding visually arresting art. Led by Becket Schroder and closely accompanied by Tessa Piccolo, the duo brings their personal experiences together to create the narrative that defines the Badvril identity."

"Badvril’s debut album “IN HEAVEN” didn’t premier at a trendy club or online drop-it was first played for inmates at Washington State Penitentiary. A bold introduction that speaks volumes about what Badvril stands for: unfiltered honesty, defiance of convention, and a deep connection to the overlooked."
