  • HerStory 70: Julie Ross from Angelic Inspirations
    Jan 20 2026

Join Kylie King, founder of Australian Ladies in Business Initiative, as she talks to Julie Ross of Angelic Inspirations.

    Julie's bio:

Hello, my name is Julie Ross and I am the very proud owner of a gorgeous little bridal boutique located in Canberra; Angelic Inspirations. I am 57 years old, the Mum of two lovely teenage daughters and wife to a wonderful and ridiculously supportive husband, Matthew. I fondly describe the purchase of Angelic Inspirations as the best midlife crisis I have ever had! At the time the business was advertised, I was on maternity leave and looking for a career change. I happened to stumble across the advertisement and began thinking, ‘What if...?’ The move was a big change for me but perfect for my 15 years’ experience in management, retail and customer service roles with Qantas and over 10 years’ experience in training and HR. With two littlies under 2, I knew I didn’t want to go back into the corporate world and I had always wanted to work for myself. The shop was local to me and had real sentimental value – I’d bought my own wedding dress there. At age 45, I took the plunge and bought the shop, telling myself I would give it a red hot crack for five years and then reassess. We are now in our 12th year of operation and I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER….

    About Angelic Inspirations

Angelic Inspirations is one of the most experienced bridal shops in the Canberra region. Located in Federation Square in Gold Creek, we predominantly sell beautiful, exceptionally well-produced wedding gowns. We offer a wide range of bridal accessories, veils, bridesmaids dresses and other formalwear, along with a gown cleaning service. We also stock a large range of plus size wedding gowns to cater to this very specific and important market. Our products are from a mix of local and international companies and are sourced from only the highest quality, reputable and trustworthy organisations. We’re open daily from 10am-3 or 4pm, extending to 5pm on weekends and 7pm on Thursdays by appointment when needed.

Our business philosophy is centred on customer service. Rather than simply selling a dress, our goal is to create a positive, enjoyable experience for our customers. Our quaint, unpretentious boutique is designed to make our customers feel comfortable and welcome. In our experience, by delivering on exceptional customer service, customers return for other products or services or provide referrals down the track. This is achieved through our carefully designed customer service processes, which include surprising our customers with champagne on arrival and gifting them a specially designed ‘I Said Yes to My Dress’ cookie on the placing of an order. Also key is our individual appointments in our private fitting rooms, with each bride promised a one on one fitting with one of our consultants and a room to themselves for their entire appointment.

  • HerStory Episode 66: Tiani Le Var from OMGrazing AU
    Dec 9 2025

Join Kylie King, founder of Australian Ladies in Business Initiative, as she talks to Tiani Le Var of OMGrazing AU.

    Tiani's bio:

You know how sometimes the best things in life are born out of the toughest moments? That’s exactly how OMGrazing AU began.I’m Tiani Le Var, and I started OMGrazing back in 2022 — six months pregnant, raising my daughter, and trying to rebuild my life after a really hard chapter. What began on my kitchen bench has grown into this beautiful, thriving little business that creates luxe grazing tables, event setups, and our signature grazing carts all across South East Queensland.

But honestly, it’s never just been about the food. For me, it’s about connection — bringing people together, celebrating community, and showcasing the incredible local producers and makers we have right here in our region. Every graze tells a story.

I’ve been lucky enough to see OMGrazing AU recognised along the way — winning the Phoenix Award at the 2025 ALIBI Awards, and being a finalist for both the Bright Spark and Young Trailblazer categories. But the real win for me has been proving that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, you can turn your story into something beautiful.

I like to think OMGrazing is more than just cheese and crackers — it’s about resilience, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. And yes… I’m a little bit obsessed with a good cheese pun too.
