Helping Underserved Communities Get Eye Care and Blood Cancer Diagnoses

April 20, 2025 ~ Eye Care For Detroit, Inc. is a non-profit corporation committed to improving the eye care outcomes of the homebound and underserved populations in Detroit. Its founder, Dr. Cleamon Moorer Jr., grew up in Detroit, losing his vision to cataracts at 21 years old. After a charitable contribution covered the surgery that enabled him to see again, he set out to do something to help others who might be struggling with affordable vision care. The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan (BCFM) is the go-to source for anyone who faces a blood cancer diagnosis. BCFM supports nearly 200 types and subtypes of blood cancer and potentially malignant blood disorders, with the most common diseases supported are leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS, aplastic anemia, and myeloproliferative disorders.
