In this episode, we walk through Genesis 24:28–33 and are introduced to Laban, Rebekah’s brother, as he welcomes Abraham’s servant into his home.

We take a closer look at his response—“Come in, you who are blessed by the Lord”—and consider what it reveals about the moment, the culture of hospitality, and the early glimpse we get of Laban’s character.

This passage invites us to slow down and pay attention—not just to what is said, but to how people respond to God’s work in front of them.

Sometimes Scripture teaches us through quiet moments like this—simple interactions that carry deeper meaning when we take the time to notice.

God answers prayers. Every step of the way is loyal to Abraham and his family and his future descendants. He gives success to Aham‘s humble servant, and his response is to bow down and worship, and thank God when God sends us on a mission he doesn’t abandon us and he’s faithful.

The servant, after praying observes, Rebecca, who is both young beautiful, and a virgin. He pays attention to see if God answers his requests and his loyal and helping him successfully locate a wife for his master son. As you can imagine, God makes everything fall in line!

As Abraham’s servant is still in the middle of speaking to God, his prayer is answered, and he finds a beautiful woman who just so happens to be from his master’s, brother’s family line! God answers the servant’s prayer before he can even finish and is looking out for both the servant’s, Abraham’s, and the promised son Isaac‘s good!

Abraham servant makes it to the city of Nahoe in Aram Naharaim, which we go over again. God leads him every step and is going before him. The servants ask God for success and to show him kindness and favor.

Abraham call on his elder servant to find a wife for his son. He has him taken oath and promise him that he’ll bring back a wife but not bring Isaac out there to marry.

I did forget to mention one important aspect, which is the fact that Abraham tells his servant that he will send a messenger (angel) ahead of him and he’ll take a wife for his son.

This is pure confidence that Abraham has that God is going to help us servant and lead him to finding a wife who will come back with him that he can bring back for his son! He believes God is going ahead of the servant to prepare and make that message clear. This way the wife and her family will have a soft heart that’s ready when the proposal from the servant comes!

Abraham’s wife Sarah passes away, Abraham approaches the head tights who he has good relations with two acquire property for a burial site.

Another genealogy! Abraham gets word that his brother Nahor has had kids back in Haran/Aram.

I wonder if there’s a reason for this “randomly placed” genealogy!?
