Acerca de esta escucha

TL;DR? Healthy Intersections focuses on the intersection of medical care and public health. Our academic, non-profit, volunteer-run blog is sponsored by the peer-reviewed journal Medical Care and the Medical Care Section of the American Public Health Association. We are a project of the same editorial team as The Medical Care Blog (since 2014). Our listeners, viewers, readers, and contributors care about clinical care, the healthcare system, and the health policies and public health issues that intersect with these areas.

We are now recording in video format! Check out the new videos on our website, The Medical Care Blog. And don't forget to subscribe!

  • Episode 19: Healthy Intersections Podcast: Racial Residential Segregation w/ Dr. Kristen Brown
    Nov 1 2024

Welcome! This month's special guest is Dr. Kristen Brown, a senior research associate at Urban Institute. We discuss her recent publication Still Separate, Still Not Equal: An ecological examination of redlining and racial segregation with COVID-19 vaccination administration in Washington DC. We talk about methods for measuring racial residential segregation and contemporary/historical redlining, and we discuss the implications of the paper's findings. Racial residential segregation in the US is persistent and associated with racial health inequities, including in COVID-19 infections, testing, and vaccination.
