What really counts as being exposed to nature? Is it being on a hike, camping out in the wilderness for days at a time, climbing mountains, or going out to sea? Griff Griffith, a renowned nature conservationist and nature interpreter, says it's much simpler than you might think.
Today, Dr. Jonathan Karp and student producer Kaya Basatemur are joined by Griff Griffith to discuss the role that nature plays in our daily lives-- from our lifestyles, to our mental health. Nature not only has a huge impact on how we feel, but also on how we perceive the world around us. Griff explains how nature observation is accessible within our own backyards and windowsills, without requiring a visit to the local forest or national park.
Griff, while a nature conservationist, has not only worked in wildlife conservation, but also has experience in trail construction, leading ecological restoration crews, firefighting, fishing, farming, and conducting wildlife surveys. He has completely dedicated his life to his passion for nature and protecting the environment.
