  • Our Oscar Win! Baywatch Reboot and Spider-Man Casting! | HWP 1014
    Mar 20 2026

This week on Hardly Working, we’re diving into some of the biggest casting news, reboots, and hot takes that might actually offend you.

We break down everything happening with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, including:

    • Tom Holland and Zendaya returning
    • Sadie Sink joining in a mystery role
    • Jon Bernthal as Punisher
    • Mark Ruffalo back as Hulk

We also debate the 3 most likely roles Sadie could be playing — and why this movie might be setting up the next era of the MCU.

    Then… the beach is back.

A new Baywatch is in the works starring:

    • Stephen Amell
    • Shay Mitchell
    • TikTok star Noah Beck
    • Athlete/influencer Livvy Dunne

We talk about whether this is a true reboot… or just another “Gen Z vibe show” built for aesthetics and social media reach.

Also in TV news, The White Lotus Season 4 is shaping up to be STACKED with names like:

    • Helena Bonham Carter
    • Kumail Nanjiani
    • Max Greenfield
    • Chloe Bennet
    • Vincent Cassel

And yes — we explain why this cast feels so random… and why that’s exactly the point.

    Plus:

    • Madonna is returning to acting for the first time in 20+ years
    • A bigger conversation about how casting is shifting toward influencers + built-in audiences
    • Why reboots are starting to feel more like brand extensions than actual storytelling

    And of course… Unpopular Opinions:

    • Morning showers make no sense
    • Most people don’t actually like traveling — they like having traveled
    • Inconveniencing yourself is part of life (and we’ve stopped doing it)
    • TV intros should be under 10 seconds
    • Restaurant vibes don’t matter — the food does

Casting chaos, reboot fatigue, and a little existential travel crisis — all in one episode.

  • Tangled Casting, Taco Seasoning Crime & The Return of Scary Movie | HWP 1013
    Mar 13 2026

This week on Hardly Working, it’s a rollercoaster of casting news, celebrity chaos, and one of the strangest shoplifting schemes we’ve ever heard.

In movie news, Kathryn Hahn has officially been cast as Mother Gothel in the upcoming Tangled, which is very exciting… unless you’re Rapunzel.

Meanwhile, it’s been a rough week for Britney Spears, who was reportedly pulled over for a DUI after police received a call about erratic driving.

While we were away, we may have also missed a superhero wedding — rumors say Tom Holland and Zendaya have already tied the knot, though the couple hasn’t officially confirmed it yet.

    In fast food news:

    • Burger King has released a Biscoff-filled soft serve cone
    • Pizza Hut is bringing back its Hot Honey Pizza
    • And yes, we discuss the very strange viral moment involving the McDonald's CEO’s extremely human bite of his new product.

Sports fans might enjoy this one: Cristo Fernández, best known as Dani Rojas on Ted Lasso, is actually becoming a professional soccer player at 35.

    In Harry Potter-adjacent news:

    • Emma Watson reportedly has a new boyfriend
    • And Paul Bettany is rumored to be the top choice to play Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter.

Meanwhile in media shakeups, the rumored acquisition of Warner Bros. by Paramount could put Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network under the same company for the first time ever.

And the best news of the week:
A brand-new Scary Movie is coming back starring Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall.

Plus, we break down one of the most bizarre crimes of the week — a Florida man allegedly stole thousands of dollars in trading cards from Target by scanning taco seasoning packets at self-checkout.

    And of course, Unpopular Opinions:

    • If daylight savings started at noon on a Friday no one would complain
    • Most podcasts would be better at 20 minutes instead of 2 hours
    • Timid drivers are worse than aggressive ones
    • Lego games are lazy cash grabs

Pop culture chaos, fast food drama, and taco seasoning crime — all in one episode.

  • Hannah Montana Turns 20, New Dinosaur Discovered, AMC Closing Theaters | HWP 1012
    Mar 6 2026

This week on Hardly Working, we’ve got prehistoric creatures, Disney nostalgia, and a possible cultural shift in masculinity — just a normal week.

Scientists have announced the discovery of a new dinosaur species in the Sahara Desert: Spinosaurus mirabilis. Roughly the size of a T-Rex, 95 million years old, with a brightly colored scimitar-shaped crest and fish-catching teeth. Not aquatic. Not a diver. Just out here confusing everyone.

In Harry Potter-adjacent news, Daniel Radcliffe revealed he was once pitched a remake of The Wizard of Oz where he would’ve played a karate-kicking Cowardly Lion and Emma Watson would’ve been Dorothy. He called it one of the worst ideas ever. Naturally, we cast it anyway.

And speaking of Disney nostalgia — the Hannah Montana 20-year anniversary special is officially coming to Disney+. It’ll feature Miley Cyrus, recreated sets, unseen footage, and a live audience taping hosted by Alex Cooper. Yes, she’s back in the wig.

In theater news, AMC Theatres reported declining attendance and revenue, even with major films like Avatar: Fire & Ash, Zootopia 2, and Wicked: For Good. Moviegoing still hasn’t fully bounced back — and AMC posted another quarterly loss.

But maybe the industry shift is bigger than ticket prices. A new survey suggests teens are less interested in traditional superhero “tough guy” tropes and more interested in emotionally connected, vulnerable portrayals of masculinity. Less stoic alpha. More present father.

Plus, Unpopular Opinions that may divide households:

    • Early birds need to relax about night-owl noise
    • Hollywood isn’t out of ideas — we trained them
    • Blockbuster Video is remembered a little too fondly
    • Goblet of Fire is actually one of the best Harry Potter films

Dinosaurs, Disney wigs, struggling theaters, and emotional reinvention — all in one episode.
