Hallmark Holidays or Bust

Is technology causing our imaginations and creativity to diminish? Is that why all of these hallmark holidays and national appreciation days exist? Today I rant a little bit about my distaste for forced "supposed-to" days and harp on wanting to appreciate someone or something and even OURSELVES when you so choose (while also pushing for more spontaneity).
