  • Editorial with Sujit Nair | Om Birla Flags Danger to PM Modi from Opposition MPs in Lok Sabha
    Feb 12 2026
PM Modi skipped addressing the Lok Sabha on the advice of Speaker Om Birla. The suggestion came after Birla suspected that opposition MPs could create a situation that might endanger the Prime Minister’s safety. Following this advice, PM Modi addressed only the Rajya Sabha. In this episode of Editorial, Managing Editor Sujit Nair criticizes the way Members of Parliament treat Parliament, with zero accountability. He also highlights the fact that if the safest place in India — Parliament — is not safe, how can 140 crore Indians expect safety? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Editorial With Sujit Nair | How Indira Defied USA, How Modi Deals With It | India-US Trade Deal
    Feb 12 2026
India and the United States of America recently, in a joint statement, announced a long-pending trade deal under which the US will export select agricultural products to India while Indian exports to the US will attract an 18% tariff, down from 25%. Tariffs on US exports to India, as announced by the White House, will be reduced to zero. The White House also stated that it would “monitor whether India resumes, directly or indirectly, importing oil from the Russian Federation” and that, if India fails to stop such imports, the US would “reimpose an additional ad valorem duty of 25 percent on Indian imports.” In this episode of Editorial, HW News Managing Editor Mr. Sujit Nair discusses whether India has compromised its sovereignty in its dealings with the United States. He also examines how former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi dealt with the US and then-President Lyndon B. Johnson when he halted PL-480 wheat exports to India, and how an Alabama newspaper, during Indira Gandhi’s visit to the US, carried the headline, “New Indian Leader Comes Begging.” Learn more about your ad choices. • Editorial With Sujit Nair | Advertisements Over Education: What Are We Really Prioritising? | India
    Feb 7 2026
BJP’s Chhattisgarh government, led by CM Vishnu Deo Sai, spent ₹18.57 crore on TV advertisements in just three months. In July 2024, Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government spent ₹270 crore on a special publicity campaign ahead of the polls, while Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma government spent ₹370 crore on advertisements over the last four financial years. The central government, too, spent close to ₹1,000 crore on print advertisements between 2019 and 2024. While central and state governments spent massively on advertisements, the government admitted in the Rajya Sabha during the current Budget Session that 18,727 government schools were shut between 2020–21 and 2024–25, nearly 10 schools every day. During the same period, private unaided schools increased by 8,475 in just one year. In this episode of Editorial, HW News Managing Editor Mr Sujit Nair discusses the government’s priorities and questions why such enormous sums are being spent on advertisements when the same money could be used to improve government schools.
