As the year dies and the longest night creeps in (yes, we are past the solstice, but it took a bit to edit this one), we’re turning our attention to one of folklore’s most enduring, misunderstood, and deeply unbothered figures: the Hag.
In this episode, we wade into swamps, crossroads, and liminal spaces to explore hags across myth, fairy tales, and witchcraft traditions. From crones and night hags to divine old women and winter spirits, we unpack how hags became symbols of fear, power, age, autonomy, and survival, and why they tend to show up when the light is fading.
Are hags villains? Guardians? Witches who opted out of being palatable? Or something much older than all of that?
Light a candle, lock your doors, and enjoy the solstice. The hags are watching.
