  • Amanda Seales Joins Dickey on Who's In My Chair?
    Aug 15 2025

Who better to close out Season 1 of Who’s in My Chair? than our very own artistic intellectual, @amandaseales? This truth-telling soldier is always right on time. Even though we recorded this episode back in winter, our conversation couldn’t be more relevant to the current unraveling of our raggedy democracy.@amandaseales has taught me the power of nuance — something I’ve consistently learned from Black women like her. It’s reshaped the way I see not just myself, but us as a community❤️🖤💚. And in this era of hyper-individualism and emotional detachment, that perspective is more urgent than ever. The real genius✨ Amanda took her master’s in African American Studies and fused it with her natural gift to entertain, creating an entire genre of her own making. Her mind works like a kaleidoscope ✨✨✨ sharp, layered, and unlike anything we’ve seen. I mean, anyone who could open and steal the show from the legendary Paul Mooney? Not to be played with. Now she’s gearing up for her PhD, and it’s about to be feverish for everybody. You can catch a dose of her brilliance on Patreon, YouTube, Substack, Whatnot, and of course, right here on IG.Every day, I thank God for the gift of wisdom 🙏🏼 especially the kind that comes from women like Amanda❤️

  • Allure Editor-In-Chief Jessica Cruel on Who's In My Chair
    Aug 15 2025

My guest co-host is a true testament to change — the first Black Editor-in-Chief of Allure magazine, y’all – Jessica Cruel. If you know, you know: Allure has long been dubbed the beauty bible — the one-stop authority on all things hair, skin, nails, and the skin you’re in. Since its debut in 1991, it’s carved out a space that centered beauty unlike any other publication, especially among the big dogs like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, which leaned more into fashion and culture.

But let’s be real — even those legacy mags often gave us “diversity” in air quotes: a token here, a one-off there. That’s why Jessica’s appointment is no small thing. Putting a Black woman at the helm of Allure doesn’t just mean better beauty stories — it means a deeper reflection of who we really are.
Because Jessica brings all of herself to the table — her love of beauty, yes, but also real estate, investment property, home ownership… Prosperity in all its forms. So now we see ourselves reflected not just in our skin and coils, but in our ambition and legacy too. That’s how we break the glass ceiling. Thank you, Jessica — aka Rocket for leading with excellence. You didn’t just take up space — you expanded it.

    Aug 15 2025

Join me and my guest co-host, Cara D. Robinson. We met 8 years ago when she sat in my chair as a client—and from day one, she was pure light. Since then, she’s become a dear friend who’s poured into me in ways I didn’t even know were possible. Cara is one of many Black women who’ve shown up with so much purpose and love for our community—it’s the reason Who’s in My Chair? exists. As the former CEO of SheaMoisture, she helped lead one of the most iconic Black-founded brands under Unilever. In 2020, she co-founded 25 Black Women in Beauty to uplift and celebrate us through connection and community. You’ll feel her light too. Tap in.
