Understanding the audience is crucial to understanding the Bible. Otherwise we get very confused and life becomes more difficult than it should be. Jesus offers us rest in the new covenant but many Christians are uptight, discouraged, depressed, anxious and afraid.

Today on the Grace at LAST Podcast we look at the audience to whom the Bible was written. We also look at the context of many familiar passages we may misunderstand and therefore bring us into bondage. Christ came to do the very opposite. It was for freedom that Christ came and set us free.

If we do not understand who scripture is talking to, we are going to be confused. We must immediately identify the audience and remain there. Turning the intended audience inward every time will put us under laws and commandments that were never meant for us and bring fear into our lives. There is no better example than the Book of Revelation to confuse the audience and bring fear. The new covenant is a message of grace and peace, not fear. We look at the first three verses in the book to identify the audience and see what we can learn about our own lives from understanding to whom the book was written.

Is the new heaven and new earth already here? What is the new earth and how can I accept it being here when evil and war is all around us? I thought the new heaven and new earth were supposed to be perfect with no more crying, tears, disease, hate, war or sickness? Obviously those things are all around us so how can you ask me to believe this is the new earth?

Do you like to solve puzzles? Do you love it when confusion leaves and the picture begins to take focus and your mind becomes clear?

No more struggling to understand the deep mysteries of God especially when it comes to the book of Revelation. Countless hours have been spent by well-meaning people who want to be blessed by the Lord. No child of God does not want the Lord’s blessings in their life. So, we try and understand this prophecy and we only get more confused. Today the picture may begin to take focus, it did for me. The Bible contains a message God wants the world to know. Every original word is inspired by God. However, there have been a lot of changes along the way. How do we know what to believe and trust? Can we trust every word printed in our Bibles today? Those things and more on today's Grace at LAST podcast.

We all have weaknesses. There are seasons in life that some experiences bring fear and dread. But what can we do about it? Are we called to just endure and when we are out of this world the struggle will finally be over? Or is there something we can do about it right now and be free today? The Book of Revelation has caused more confusion and misunderstanding than any other book in the Bible. But it doesn’t have to be that way. It is plain and clear when we read it in context with the proper audience in mind.

Today we talk about Matthew 24 and ask the question “Is Jesus coming back and is it even important for me to know?”

As we approach the question of prophecy and what has been fulfilled and what is coming, it is important to understand Daniels interpretation of the king’s dream, what will happen in the future and to whom it applies. As we look at Daniel 9, we see that we can understand this prophecy is for Israel, not the whole world. It is also for a period of time and understanding that specific time will enable us to live in truth. That is important because truth sets us free.
