Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:4-8 - John the Baptist - A Voice Announcing the Coming Messiah - Prog 06

In our study in this lesson, we are looking at Mark 1:4-8.

In these verses John the Baptist is first presented.

He had a message aimed at the heart’s condition. Many people through out the region went out to hear this messenger and began confessing their sins.

Mark provides us a description of this messenger’s clothing style and his kosher diet.

This man pointed men and women to the savior in a spirit of humility. He also made a contrast between the savior and himself with respect to their different ministries. John baptized with water but Jesus would baptize in the Holy Spirit within a few years. This would be seen later in time in Acts chapter 2, as Peter says.

Let’s turn to the Gospel of Mark, chapter 1 verse 4.
