This Gospel of Mark study begins with chapter 1 verses 1-6.
The Key verse in Mark is found in 10:45 where Jesus tells us that ‘The Son of Man came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many.’
Dr. Mitchell will read through the first 8 verses of chapter 1. These verses introduce the forerunner of the Lord, John the baptist. These verses start off with two O.T. quotes. The first from Malachi chapter 3 verse 1 and the next from Isaiah 40 verse 3. These state that the Lord will have a messenger who would go before Him to announce His coming to the people of Israel.
So, let’s turn to Mark chapter 1 verse 1 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.
