Thomas shares his journey from Montgomery to Auburn as a fifth generation Auburn University student, while Hutton brings his perspective as a Nashville native adjusting to campus life. Together, they talk about what it really looks like to pursue a strong Christian faith in college, from finding community through church and small groups to staying grounded through the highs and lows of student life.

They also speak on the importance of mental health awareness on campus and how students are stepping up to support one another through conversations and initiatives focused on suicide prevention, including The Fight Against Suicide.

This episode is an encouraging look at how the next generation is living out their faith, building meaningful community, and making an impact right where they are. Learn more or get involved at thefightagainstsuicide.com.

In Episode 20 of Go Getters & Go Givers, John Ed Mathison sits down with Major Lee Stuckey, a combat veteran who served three deployments in Iraq and was wounded in battle. After returning home and facing deep personal struggles, a life-or-death moment in 2009 became a turning point that reshaped Lee’s purpose and mission.

Lee shares how that experience led him to found America’s Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors (AHERO), a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans and first responders heal and rediscover meaning in their lives. Through outdoor recreation, community, and faith, AHERO has supported thousands and helped save hundreds from suicide. This episode is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope, purpose, and a life worth living can be restored. In this powerful follow up episode of Go Getters & Go Givers, Thomas Lee and John Hixon return one year after sharing their incredible testimony. Now seniors at Auburn University, they reflect on the journey that began in 2023 when Thomas was diagnosed with a rapidly spreading cancerous tumor and immediately began surgery and treatment.

They revisit the moment that changed everything when Thomas was prayed over at church and his very next scan showed the cancer was completely gone. One year later, Thomas and John share how life has unfolded since that miracle and how their faith has continued to grow.

Together, they talk about how this experience has drawn them closer to Christ, reshaped their priorities, and inspired them to start a small accountability group that meets every Tuesday with close friends to encourage one another in their walk with Christ. This episode is a moving update on healing, friendship, and what it looks like to live out faith after a life changing miracle.
