A topic that's been dominating Japan recently, the search for something approaching equal rights for women continues. Spoiler: they ain't even close.

Its an old episode but still, Pete dragging on about various forms of oppression (real or perceived) is a bit obnoxious. How he goes on about women in political positions is really just wrong. He says "Europe is leading the way" and "Merkel is amazing" but as soon as it's a conservative woman "Not so great" or the equivalent of saying really bad. It's like saying "Women in politics are good but only when they agree with my opinions and perspectives" which is ironic since he sounds to be making the argument that men dominate things... there he is telling people a woman is really bad if she is conservative. Perhaps agree to disagree but don't make statements about their ethics.

I'm listening from the oldest podcasts to the newest and I'm really, really hoping Pete just keeps the politics out. Otherwise, I love the podcasts and hope to become a patreon in the future!
