  • Being Guyanese in America Under Trump - Mashramani 2026
    Feb 24 2026

Thoughts on this episode? Send us a message!

On this episode of GYaff with G.O.L.D.R.U.S.H., Sherida and Afia catch up about Republic Day (Mashramani) in Guyana and discuss their lives as Guyanese living in America.

In this conversation, the hosts are faced with the reality that anti-immigrant sentiments, xenophobia, and heightened deportation measures have become the norm in America.

G.O.L.D.R.U.S.H. encourages all of its listeners and everyone in the community to be wary of their surroundings, refrain from being in environments or engaging in behaviors that might invite unnecessary police interest. Now more than ever, knowing, supporting and caring for your neighbor or your fellow community member is critical, and could mean the difference between failure and success, and even life and death.

  • What If We Were Never Meant to Leave? A Conversation on Coming Back to Guyana
    Jan 27 2026

Thoughts on this episode? Send us a message!

What if we were never meant to leave?

This short audio reflection is a moment of pause — inspired by a video we shared with our community about leaving Guyana, returning home, and the ties that never really break.

In just under two minutes, we reflect on generations of movement: from my mother’s village decades ago to standing in that same place 35 years later for my own wedding celebration. It’s a reminder that home isn’t just where we come from — it’s something we carry, and something we can return to with purpose.

This snippet introduces a larger question we’re posing at G.O.L.D.R.U.S.H.:

What does it really mean for the Guyanese diaspora to come back home — not just to celebrate, but to engage, contribute, and help build what’s next?

Consider this an opening thought, not a full conversation — and an invitation to reflect on your own connection to home.
