Fortunately for him, Elizabeth's friend Charlotte Lucas has been an eager companion, and when the opportunity arises for her to become more than a friend, she seizes it. Yes, Mr. Collins's second offer of marriage in three days has been accepted, and Charlotte is to become mistress of Hunsford, and eventually of Longbourn itself.
