If you want to watch Henry's wonderful documentary, you can find the English version here: https://www.henryhauck.de/en-us and the German version here: https://www.henryhauck.de/de In this episode we speak with filmmaker Henry Hauck, a cousin of one of the "Missing Children of Pirmasens", a series of missing person cases from the 1960s, that have never been resolved and continue to haunt the town to this day. Decades later, Henry chose to confront this history by making a documentary, not only as a filmmaker, but as a family member living with unanswered questions. In our conversation, Henry talks about growing up in the shadow of a disappearance, the long-term impact these cases have on families and the town of Pirmasens, and about the main suspect...Günter Justus! During a year of much struggle and overwhelm I am so fortunate to have found Annie and Johanna's podcast. Listening to Fresh Hell feels as if I am sitting in on a chat between two articulate, engaging, empathetic friends who always seem to have a great story about murder, mystery or the macabre to tell each other. I find it refreshing that in addition to the factual information about any given topic they also share their compassion, outrage and international perspectives. Fresh Hell has been absolutely wonderful company, especially during a year with a lot of alone time. Thank you Annie and Johanna, please keep going!

They do a lot of research and I can’t wait for them to finally meet in person. Like hanging out with friends who love the same things you do. And all those things are terrible.

Have to recommend.

As a latecomer to this podcast, I listened out of order and this is one of the first ones that I listened to and I was absolutely hooked. great storytelling, very empathetic podcasters. I highly recommend.
