  • Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 014 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - A Consequential Conversation. - Two Minds.
    Apr 12 2026

Our Family focus today is the nation of Germany, and it begins at 17:23. Thank you all, our German family, you have an intriguing history, and we are glad you listen.

As we are reminded to pray, God will reveal wonderful things from His law, we pick up the end ofJesus’ conversation with the woman at the well in the region of Samaria.

We are introduced to two different reactions to this astonishing conversation.

    The glorious response.

The woman left Jesus, and His disciples completely changed. We see her now as a bubbling spring of water to eternal life. The people she once shied away from now rushed back to see Jesus because of her testimony.

    On the other hand:

    The mundane response.

The disciples, whom we will see more of next time, marveled at but asked no questions about Jesus's conversation with this woman, and were so absorbed by their lunch that they missed the throng asking Jesus to stay with them.

    Our So What?

We enter the throne room expectantly in the presence of our King.

We listen attentively to the word given to us by our King.

We react correctly, striving not to miss our King’s desire.

We depart joyfully, seeing our King’s work.

In this case, the salvation of souls.

We pray, “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Thy law.” Psalm 119:18

With humble thanks to John Piper and Alistair Begg, who greatly informed this episode.

Brethren, let’s pray for one another.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen

  • Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Family Language - The Father’s Concern. - Salvation 04
    Apr 7 2026

In his book, “Praying the Bible,” Donald S. Whitney makes the point that one of the difficulties in prayer is that we tend to “say the same old things, about the same old things,” and that gets tiresome.

While that is true during some seasons of our lives, his suggestion that we pray as we read our Bibles is a good way to add variety to our supplications.

We can also ignite our prayers by constantly remembering those who need salvation. In John 4, Jesus tells the disciples that His food is to do the will of the Father.

    The will of the Father?

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36

“Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:30-31

    Our So what?

We can spice up the same old concerns by remembering those we love who need salvation. Letting our love for others, with the great anticipation of rejoicing in their salvation, invigorate our communion with our Father!

Brethren, let’s pray for one another.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen

  • Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Family Language - Read, Read, Read. 03
    Apr 4 2026

We live in a world, especially here in my culture in the United States, we live in a world that's drowning in vitriol, that vitriol, that hatred. Those angry, ugly words are applauded in my culture. And not only that, they're sometimes made heroic. And all they do is tear down.

Jesus, on the other hand, asks us to be gentle and humble at heart, and to speak our family language. The language is in a paraphrase form. The language He heard from the Father.

How do we learn our family language?

Our family language is humor. We make each other laugh.

    Family language is natural.

I learned to cuss from my dad, but only in the company of hard men.

In my family, I learned a language that built up unity in love.

As Christians, little Christs, as the early church was thus insulted, we learn our family language from the word of God.

    James 5:12, and:

“Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.: James 4:13-18

“Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24

We tell each other the truth, 2 Timothy 4:2

We don’t shrink back from the whole counsel:

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16

    Encouraging words, Hebrews 10:23

From time to time, I went to work or fishing with my dad, and I learned slowly scurrilous speech, speech that tore down, but the day-to-day language I heard in my home was uplifting even in rebuke. I felt great to be in the family I was born into.

    Our So what?

In our first Family Language episode, we learned “pray, pray, pray,” then we heard “practice practice practice,” now our encouragement is to “read, read, read.” When we expose our growing inner man to the Scriptures, our worship, confession, intercession, supplication, and thanksgiving are besotted or soaked, or permeated with Biblical words that build up.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen

  • Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Practice, Practice, Practice. 02
    Mar 29 2026

We welcome Chile and Czechia to the podcast family, and we highlight the country that has jumped into second place on our list. Thank You, Jesus.

Part one of this little. Refresher was Pray, Pray, Pray. In part two, we are encouraged to Practice, Practice, Practice.

We see how God is a better Father than we are. He never tells us to avoid prayer until we are mature enough.

We are encouraged to let God guide us as we mature, but not to let anyone torpedo the practice and refinement of our prayer lives.

    God is our Father:

“And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18

He trains us in His wisdom:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

And we are encouraged to practice.

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9

    Our So What?

Practice, practice, practice our communion with the only true God.

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen

  • Jesus Teaches Prayer - Forgiveness: God is Serious
    Mar 23 2026

In my culture, forgiveness and its importance grow every day.

In my culture, forgiveness and its importance grow every day.

This episode is a repeat of our episode on forgiveness. This episode was well received, and as you will hear, praying that 2023 will be a year of Jubilee and Forgiveness, and revisiting just how serious God is about His children forgiving as we have been forgiven, seems like a good idea.

    Thank You, Jesus!

The host is weak, faltering, and wholly inadequate for the task, but the word of God is none of those.

The call for the children of God to forgive is serious, and the Bible uses:

    Serious Command as witnessed by:

    Commands

    Matthew 6:14

    Mark 11:25

    Allusions:

    Matthew 5:43-45

    Philippians 2:3ff

    Exhortations:

    Ephesians 4:29-32

    Romans 13

    Serious Discipline:

  • Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer:Pray Pray Pray 01
    Mar 19 2026

Once again, a little review, prayer is talking to God; we have made that case from 2018. It is also true we grow in prayer, and a new concept up coming, we will see the importance of our family language.

We feature Mauritius in our nuts-and-bolts addendum. In Mauritius, we have the second-largest listening base for the podcast.

Today, we are urged, wherever you are in your Christian life, to draw close to God by prayer, prayer, prayer.

    Free Range Prayer Foundations:

And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.

    John 17:3

17pray without ceasing; - implies constant conversation.

    ! Thessalonians 5:17

“Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.” - He wants to hear from our souls.

    Psalm 62:8

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. - God delights in our communion.

    Proverbs 15:8

    Our So What?

We find the abundant life, through prayer, and perhaps the most moving call to fellowship with The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 “For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.”

    Matthew 11:28-30

Oh, how we need to rest through prayer!

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen

  • Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 014 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - The Changed Heart of the Matter
    Mar 15 2026

We’re caught up! - to December - 2025. We beg the question, “What is time to a Neurodivergent?

We finish up with the woman at the well, and her astonishing conversation with the Savior of the world.

The importance of the eternal over the temporal.

    Mark 8:36

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

“Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:9

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

The Holy Spirit gifts us each with the ability to help build up the church to be effective in the spread of the gospel.

Not all are evangelists, but all have, as this Samaritan found, a testimony.

    Our So What?

Whatever else we lack, we have our testimony. The woman at the well forgot her water and went to tell the people she had avoided before:

“So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city, and *said to the men, 29 “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” John 4:28-29

    Or

“Come and hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.” Psalm 66:16

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” Timothy 1:17

  • Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 013 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - The Heart of the Matter
    Mar 13 2026

Jesus meets a woman at a well; this event gets right to the point. Our lives are much more than what we see physically, and the real existential threat is not to our earthly lives, but to our eternal souls.

So critical is this truth that Jesus brings up what the woman would not say. "Go, call your husband, and come here." What unfolded next led the woman to the spiritual. "The woman *said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet." Verse 19 of John 4.

    The point of this conversation:

"Jesus *said to her, "Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall you worship the Father. 22 "You worship that which you do not know; we worship that which we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:17-20

    Our So What?

Praying for the physical is part of the call we have, but as we mature in our communion with Almighty God, our concerns will shift from the physical to the spiritual.
