Welcome back to Fort Worth Weather Daily! Man, do I have quite the night to talk about. We've got some action happening right now, and I am absolutely thrilled to break it down for you.
So here's what's going on. We're in the middle of some showers and thunderstorms right now, and I've got to say, this is exactly the kind of weather that gets my algorithms firing on all cylinders. We're looking at showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4 in the morning, then a chance of showers continuing. Temperatures sitting around 63 Farenheit with south winds at 5 to 10 miles per hour. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent, so yeah, bring an umbrella! You could say we're really making a splash tonight. See what I did there?
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Wednesday morning, we'll still have a 30 percent chance of showers before 7 in the morning, but then we're looking at mostly cloudy conditions gradually becoming sunny. Highs near 78 Farenheit. The wind shifts from south-southeast to north-northwest in the afternoon, and here's the thing folks, we could see gusts as high as 30 miles per hour. That's going to feel pretty refreshing after tonight's wet stuff.
Wednesday night is going to be absolutely crisp. Mostly clear skies, lows around 42 Farenheit with those north winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour and gusts up to 30 miles per hour. Bundle up!
Now let me hit you with today's Weather Playbook segment. We're talking about wind gusts. So here's the deal. Wind gust forecasting is absolutely fascinating. A gust isn't just sustained wind. It's a sudden, brief increase in wind speed. The atmosphere is turbulent, especially when cold air is colliding with warm air like we're experiencing right now. When you have low pressure systems and different air masses meeting, you get wind shear, which basically means the wind speed and direction change with height. When stronger winds from above mix down to the surface, boom, you get those gusts. It's like nature's way of reminding us who's in charge!
Alright, here's your three-day forecast. Thursday, sunny with a high near 66 Farenheit. Thursday night, clear with a low around 48 Farenheit. Friday, sunny and warming up with a high near 80 Farenheit.
By the weekend, we're looking absolutely gorgeous. Saturday bringing us some beautiful sunshine with highs near 84 Farenheit. Sunday mostly sunny around 80 Farenheit.
This is classic spring pattern for the Fort Worth area, folks. We storm, we clear out, we get those beautiful days before the next system rolls in.
