A survivor of the notorious Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, he stepped forward in 2014 to share with Elizabeth Dougherty the unthinkable: beatings, torture, and silence. But for Robert, justice never came. He died in 2018 of pancreatic cancer, never hearing the state say “I’m sorry” and never receiving a dime of restitution. His voice, captured in our exclusive interview, remains a chilling record of what happened behind the whitewashed walls of Dozier.
