At the heart of the Christian faith stands a miracle: the resurrection of Christ. Yet despite the centrality of this event to the faith, many Christians have been skeptical of other miraculous claims from across the centuries. Yet history doesn't give us license to ignore such claims. In fact, accounts of saints floating through the air in front of hundreds of onlookers or bilocating to places hundreds of miles away are not infrequent and challenge many of our assumptions about the world.
And it's not just the ignorant who believe this. Carlos Eire, a Yale historian, has recently published the book They Flew, detailing these stories, and he joins us today to recount the remarkable tales of flying nuns and teleporting monks.
