Welcome to the FireTeam K9 Podcast—the show dedicated to helping dog owners build stronger relationships, develop better communication, and create reliable, well-behaved dogs. I’m Karl, a balanced dog trainer with a passion for helping owners understand and connect with their dogs. Whether you’re raising a puppy, working through behavioral challenges, or looking to sharpen your training skills, this podcast is here to guide you.

Dog training isn’t just about teaching commands—it’s about building trust, leadership, and clear communication. A well-trained dog isn’t just obedient; they’re confident, engaged, and secure in their handler’s leadership. The best training doesn’t come from force or bribery—it comes from clarity, consistency, and connection. That’s why developing a strong bond with your dog is the key to success.

Each episode, I’ll break down practical training principles and share real-world experiences to help you navigate the challenges of raising and training a dog. Most of the time, you’ll hear from me as I cover everything from puppy foundations to behavior modification and problem-solving. But I’ll also bring on guest experts, including fellow trainers, dog professionals, and even my own clients, to share their experiences with FireTeam K9.

So, how did I get into dog training? Like many trainers, my journey started with my own dog—Piper. When I first got her, she was reactive and struggled with the world around her. I refused to give up on her, so I dove into learning everything I could about training. Through that process, I fell in love with it—not just because of Piper’s transformation, but because I saw how training changes both the dog and the owner’s life.

My experience grew when I got involved in search and rescue training, working with different dogs in high-pressure situations. This helped me refine my ability to read dogs, understand behavior, and communicate clearly. It reinforced my belief that training is a two-way street—dogs are always learning from us, whether we realize it or not.

Today, Piper is my demo dog, showing firsthand what balanced training and dedication can achieve. With my background in coaching and personal development, I’ve blended those skills with dog training to help owners become clear, confident leaders for their dogs.

This podcast is for anyone looking to improve their relationship with their dog—whether you’re dealing with reactivity, struggling with leash manners, or just want to better understand how your dog thinks. If you want a well-behaved, engaged, and reliable dog, this podcast is for you.

    I’ll cover topics like:

    • Puppy training and socialization – setting your dog up for success from day one

    • Leash walking and obedience – getting your dog to walk nicely and respond reliably

    • Behavior problems – tackling reactivity, separation anxiety, and bad habits

    • Tools and techniques – slip leads, prong collars, e-collars, and how to use them properly

    • Real client stories – hearing firsthand experiences from dog owners like you

At the heart of it all, this podcast is about building better dogs by building better handlers. Every dog has the potential to be amazing—it’s up to us as owners to give them the leadership, structure, and guidance they need to succeed.
