  • Cartonnage: The Art of Box Making with Claudia Squio
    Mar 29 2026
We have talked about ColorWay Arts and Claudia Squio’s beautiful boxes on many shows. Cindy and Beth have both had excellent success with Claudia’s kits. This week we were able to talk to Claudia, learn how her business came to be, hear the fascinating story of how it grew to what it is today, and gain some insight into how the box kits are manufactured and built. If you’re looking for another way to finish your needlework, these boxes offer several options as Beth and Lori Mann have demonstrated. We hope you enjoy hearing Claudia’s story and encourage you to visit her website and give one of her kits a try.–Cindy and Gary Listen to the podcast: This show is also available on FlossTube. Mar 22 2026
This week’s artist is Kelly Largent of Waxed Entanglement. The best description of her work comes from Kelly, “I create wooden frames that I turn into looms and then weave into them. I embellish my weaving with wood carving, needle felting, embroidery, and more.” The result is absolutely creative, original, and captivating textile art. Be sure to check out the pieces that use three layers of weaving to create depth. • Fiber Talk Canvas #4: Needles: Why You Care What You Use
    Mar 18 2026
In Canvas episode #4, we talk about needles, needle sizes, quality, and the role your needle plays in stitching and protecting your threads as you stitch. When buying, purchase top quality needles and several sizes in your arsenal so you can use the best option for your thread and ground cloth. As always, leave your questions/thoughts in the comment section.–Beth, Cindy, and Gary Note from Gary: After recording, I actually measured the needles I use for needlepoint projects. Turns out I’m using size 22, the proper size for Perle #5 and Watercolors. While my memory may be faulty, I still know how to select the correct needle size.–Beth, Cindy, and Gary Links: John James Needle Guide free download: https://www.jjneedles.com/needles-guide/ Debbie Rowley’s website, DebBee’s Designs: https://debbeesdesigns.com/ American Needlepoint Guild: https://www.needlepoint.org/default.aspx CyberPointers: https://www.cyberpointers.org/ Anasazi Spirit (Gary’s project): https://stitchplay.com/anasazi-spirit/ Poppers (Beth’s project): https://needledelights.com/product/poppers/ Jeweled Valentine (Cindy’s project): https://www.rainbowgallery.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Jeweled-Valentine.pdf Inchies (Beth’s project back project): https://needledelights.com/product/inchies/ EverTite stretcher bars, Frame Lock corner devices, and tacks: http://www.needlestack.com/WebStore/Accessories/StretcherBars.html Adjust-A-Frame stretcher bars: Download the price list.

    Mar 18 2026
Canvas show #3 focuses on Congress Cloth. We’ve made a change and are now presenting shows by topic rather than including several topics in one show. • Framing Answers with Master Framer David Lantrip
    Mar 15 2026
Framing is our topic this week and our guest is master framer David Lantrip. The show is sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America at egausa.org. In our conversation we cover the entire framing process from how you handle your needlework before you take it to the framer, to the conversation you have with the framer at the counter, and then what they do after you leave the shop. We hit on all of the main aspects of framing in the show. If you have additional questions or need clarification, post in the comment section and we’ll do our best to get you answers and/or we’ll do another show to address the topics that come up. We also ask that you make a special effort to share this show with fellow stitchers and like and subscribe.—Cindy and Gary Listen to the podcast: This show is also available on FlossTube. • Midweek Chat: Framing, Saving Threads, and Ronnie Rowe Advice
    Mar 11 2026
Our favorite day of the week that begins with W has arrived and we’re talking about when to save stitched thread, how you might do it, and whether it’s worth it. In most cases, we vote no. We also do a heavy tease of Sunday’s show on Framing with David Lantrip, talk about the benefits of EGA and ANG, discuss Ronnie Rowe advice and creativity, and throw In a few other random topics. As always, leave your thoughts and questions in the comments section. • Needlework Growth and the Impact of Youth
    Mar 8 2026
Trends and the online business aspects of the needlework world are the subjects of this week’s conversation. Our guests are Hayley Albright and Madeline Wrubel of The Stitch Strategy. Hayley and Madeline developed their business to help shops and designers take advantage of today’s online world and to keep up with growth that started with the pandemic and has not slowed. Much of the growth has come from younger stitchers and we devote a good deal of the conversation to understanding what that demographic is looking for and how they are enjoying the hobby outside of traditional channels. We hope you find the conversation enlightening and it gives you a better understanding of where this terrific art form is headed.—Gary Listen to the podcast: This show is also available on FlossTube.
