In part 1, we consider the historical context of the Roman church that raised conscience issues. Then we identify the weak and strong in faith and conscience. Finally, we begin to look at a number of imperatives and principles that guide us in matters such as these.

Jesus was mocked and beaten by the temple officers. He was unjustly tried by the Jewish San Hedrin council. He was dismissed and not protected by Pilate. But He did not respond in kind, instead committing Himself to God. We learn from His example how to suffer persecution. Will you treat Him like the officers, or like the San Hedrin, or like Pilate? Or will you consider His great love for you and acknowledge that He gave Himself for you to deliver you from the wages of sin?

Pastor Postiff broaches the subject of FBC serving as a sending church for a new missionary couple. We consider this exciting possibility, how it meshes with our stewardship responsibilities in the gospel, and how it is part of our obedience to the Great Commission. We began to look at some principles and the process of how we go about sending a missionary.
