In this episode, Sydney and Tatum discuss the history behind and implications of the recent rise of AAPI hate as well as the historical ties between Asian and Black power movements. To do so accurately and respectfully, Sydney and Tatum discuss these topics with members of the AAPI community; Edward T. Chang , a Professor of Ethnic Studies and founding Director of the Young Oak Kim Center for Korean American Studies at the University of California at Riverside, Dhanika Pineda, a Filipina-American second year Literary Journalism Major and International Studies Minor at the University of California, Irvine, and Yến Lê Espiritu, a distinguished Professor of Ethnic Studies and an award-winning author who has published extensively on Asian American panethnicity, gender and migration, and U.S. colonialism and wars in Asia.
