Today's episode: The Foot Locker Slamfest was a televised slam dunk contest in the late 1980s and early 1990s that stood apart from typical basketball events — it featured professional athletes from MLB, NFL, track & field and other sports competing to show off their leaping ability and creativity around a basketball rim.
The show was designed as an ESPN/NBC special and was part sports showcase, part promotional event for Foot Locker and sneaker culture.
