Episode 500: Eastern Air Lines Flight 401

Just before midnight on December 29, 1972, Eastern Air Lines Flight 401, traveling from New York to Miami, crashed into the Florida Everglades, killing nearly two thirds of the passengers on board. Crashing into the swamp softened the landing and likely saved dozens, but the remote location made rescue efforts complicated and required a cooperative effort between first responders and local civilians.

The crash came at a difficult time for the airline industry, following closely on a number of several high-profile hijackings and examples of equipment malfunctions that negatively affected ticket sales. This only got worse when the investigation into Flight 401 was concluded and the cause of the crash was determined to be operator error when the flight crew became distracted and unaware that the autopilot had switched itself off.

In the months and years that followed, several Eastern Air employees and survivors of Flight 401 began reporting sightings of the ghosts of crew members and passengers who died in the crash. Although Eastern Air went out of their way to deny any sightings, the stories spread and became a part of Florida folklore as the subject of books, television films, and even a public spectacle as part of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s Occult Museum in Connecticut.

This was the first podcast I listened to and became obsessed!! The stories are detailed and chilling and the ladies tell them with empathy for the victims but humor. It is Perfection!!!

I ♥️love♥️ this podcast I came across it on Spotify and I have been watching sense ep 200-ish this podcast is their dream and they made it real.
500 episodes, big audience, THEIR OWN PODCAST NETWORK, and they are still ash and elaina and that is still morbid. This podcast is their hopes and dreams and now, they are mine too. Now for the actual review I will regrettably say the other side of the story because they talk. A lot. Like freaking teenage girls. Now if you like that, good! But if you are looking for a plain clothes informative true crime, then you have the wrong pod. If you DO like it and you want MORE then have I got news for you, because here are my top picks. World’s dumbest criminals, with Tara sariban, an Aussie from Melbourne who is real damn funny. She in fact is TOO funny not to have as little followers as she currently has. There is also strange and unexplained with daisy eagan she is more sarcastic but there is just as much banter. K that’s it. TL/DR: 500 episodes and a lot of banter from hosts and things like this are strange and unexplained and world’s dumbest criminals.

Nasty crash told in a classy way. This podcast is always interesting and funny. Great stories!

Story was great! But terrible language

The narrators were using really unnecessary cursing describing the incidents. Not sure why can’t someone just be clean when narrating stories and have to use so many curse words at every sentence. Not cool at all, great story told by uncool folks
