The absolute worst place to stay in Bulgaria as a foreigner is in poor regions.The best places to live in sofia are: City Center, Lozenets,, Yavorow, Simeonovo, Studenski Grad, Mladost, Oborishte, Vitosha, Nadezda, Boyana, Dragalevti.
I would avoid Lyulin unless you work from home and you want to stay cheap.
