  • Voluntourism has a bad reputation. But surely there can be some good in the intention to volunteer abroad? Today's guest is Susan Gisbon, author of the excellent book How To Be An Amazing Volunteer Overseas: Rules of the Road, Stories from the Field. In this episode she talks about an important paradigm shift and discusses the idea of cultural learning with host Stephen Bailey. When we travel we learn and for Susan, that needs to be the starting point for volunteers. Susan is an advocate for better voluntourism and also has some great resources on her website Amazing Volunteer. If you're not thinking about volunteering abroad then still take a listen, because this is a huge industry that can bring good.
