In 1973–74, while training in film and television, I underwent surgery and was plunged into darkness under anesthesia. I raced through a tunnel toward a radiant, living Light—an overwhelming presence of pure love. Just before I could merge with it, a commanding voice asked, "Are you ready to die?" Terrified, I begged for another chance. The Voice responded, "You promised to help others. You have failed." After pleading with all my being, I was granted a second chance.I found myself in cosmic space, shrinking into a dot of consciousness. The Voice, now plural yet unified, said, "In the beginning was God..." I understood that God is the source, boundary, and life of all existence. I was within God and yet myself. I saw a past life and was reminded of my purpose: to help others awaken spiritually. When I awoke in the operating room, only ninety minutes had passed, though it felt like a journey through eternity.
