🎙️Welcome to Episode Twenty-One of Liquid Liner Notes!
On this episode I chat with Emily McGill, the lead singer, guitarist, and mastermind behind the psych-rock/dream-pop music project Milou Moon (@MilouMoon_).
Our chat starts with how she became interested in music and what her early inspirations were. Then we talk about starting music school at Chicago’s School of Rock, and traveling parts of the US playing classic rock covers.
Next we talk about how she turned years of ideas into reality with under the name Milou Moon during the pandemic. We discuss how moving to Naarm (Melbourne), Australia impacted her musically, how she was welcomed into the city’s music scene, and eventually found bandmates.
We then dig into how she finds inspiration for song writing as well as her personal process for creation. We talk about playing gigs in both Australia and her returns to Chicago, which involved finding new bandmates for live shows.
Finally we talk about what’s next for Milou Moon, including a new single releasing this Thursday (2/20) that is part of a forthcoming album, future tours, and even a vinyl pressing of the next project.
