In the mid 1980's an event occurred that changed over the counter medicine forever: multiple people in the Chicago area died suddenly after taking the pain relief medication Tylenol. What investigators found would shock the world, multiple capsules filled with potassium cyanide. This event would lead to the safety protocols we have all become familiar with when buying medicine in the stores.
