A word avoided, a habit repeated, a pattern followed without thinking too hard about it. Not because people are convinced it works, but because they’re not willing to find out what happens if they stop. This episode looks at that space between logic and instinct, where behavior sticks even when belief doesn’t fully hold.

There are grounded reasons for it. The mind looks for control, builds patterns, and holds onto anything that seems to help. That alone explains a lot. But not all of it. Superstitions show up across cultures in similar forms, and they persist even when people claim they don’t believe in them. At some point the question shifts. If there’s even a small chance those actions matter, even indirectly, do you really want to ignore them? Most people already know their answer.
