Most of us were given a “deal-based” gospel:

God is holy and angry. You are sinful and guilty. Jesus pays your bill. If you accept the deal, you’re safe.

That’s a transaction.
That’s an exchange.
That’s a conditional agreement between two parties.

But the Gospel — the one Paul preached, the early church protected, and Jesus embodied — was never a transaction.
