We enter the inner desert to face the three subtle temptations of appetite, power and prestige, and to reorder what comes first. We argue that Lent is not deprivation but liberation when Christ holds the top place every day.

• temptation through good things misordered
• bread without trust and the gift of fasting
• power without surrender and the cost of compromise
• glory without fidelity and the danger of applause
• idols formed when good becomes ultimate
• daily choice to put Christ first
• Lent as reordering, not small tweaks
• encouragement that Jesus walks with us in the desert
