Episode 014: "Living Out the Mission"

In the Gospel text for today, we find Jesus directly after a pivotal moment in His ministry: enduring forty days of fasting and temptation in the wilderness. While the events of the temptation offer rich theological insights, it's crucial for our present purpose to remember that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit and led by the Spirit into this confrontation with the devil's schemes.

This detail highlights the active role of the Holy Spirit in Jesus' ministry. He wasn't alone in facing temptation; He was empowered and guided by the Spirit. This same Spirit is available to us today, enabling us to resist temptation and live out our faith in the face of adversity.

Our focus today is on embracing the primary theme of Jesus' mission to bring good news to the poor, freedom to the oppressed, sight to the blind, and release to the captives. We are challenged not only to admire this mission but to embody it, making it a living reality in our daily lives.
