Acerca de esta escucha
Greetings Mindful and Fit Fam! This week we have Ignacio Evans on the show. "Iggy" is a PhD Candidate in Communication at the University of California at San Diego. He is also a father, national championship debater and debate coach, and a shining example of wisdom, resilience and perseverance we can all learn something from. His professional expertise is in advocacy, diversity leadership and public speaking. He is an expert at building curriculum to meet students where they are and help them level up their performance and knowledge.
In this episode, we discuss his background and scholarship, specifically looking at his most recent presentation on black parenting and impossibility to explore the ways in which race implicates constructions of what it means to be a good or bad parent, and we dream about what it would mean to live in a world where everyone cared about black life with audacity and created moments and futures for and of black kids we care about. We also discuss gentle parenting and what it means to validate our kids' experiences and allow them to have their own voice, how to confront generational trauma, and so much more.
We highly encourage you to tune in or share this episode with anyone who desires to better understand how race operates in parenting. The truth is, educating yourself and gaining awareness plays an important part in creating a future that is more peaceful and equitable.
